British Lion Quality Mark

Each and every egg we pack meets the requirements of the British Lion Quality mark. This symbol on egg shells and packs means the eggs have been produced to some of the highest food safety standards in the world.

The British Lion Quality mark can only be used by subscribers to the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC). It shows eggs have been produced in accordance with UK and EU law and the British Lion Quality Code of Practice.

Launched in 1998, the British Lion Quality Code of Practice includes;

  • Compulsory vaccination against Salmonella Enteritidis of all pullets destined for Lion egg-producing flocks
  • Regular independent auditing
  • Improved traceability of eggs
  • A ‘best before’ date stamped on the shell and pack
  • Stricter hygiene controls at farms and packing centres

We were one of the founding members when the BEIC relaunched in 1998 – and have been proud custodians of the accrediting body ever since.
