Our story

Twin brothers, Carl and Peter Bird first started keeping hens at a local allotment in the mid-1960s. The egg industry was in its infancy at the time, eggs were considered a luxury protein packed food item but the brothers saw the potential for building a future-ready egg business.

50 years of hard work, strong will and continued re-investment have gone into creating the successful and growing business that Bird Bros has become today.

We now supply around 4 million eggs every week, direct to retailers and food service suppliers throughout the nation, with freshly laid eggs often graded, packed and dispatched in a matter of hours.
