LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

The UK egg market has changed dramatically in recent decades, and consumers today place greater emphasis on understanding how their food is produced and where it comes from. As a progressive business, we continuously look at how we can do things better and are pleased to announce a major new direction that we are heading towards from 2024.

Our five-year plan

2024 marks the beginning of our plan to implement a new barn egg production method, with an ambitious goal of completely replacing our caged egg production by 2028.

With the UK egg market evolving to incorporate this production method more broadly, it is important for us to recognise that changes are needed.

We have a desire to produce higher welfare products for our customers and are excited for what this journey looks like.

We call this plan, Vision 2028.

The Story so far. .

Towards the end of 2023, we finalised the timeline for the large-scale investment required to support the development of welfare-friendly, barn egg production facilities.

Having consulted extensively with our customers regarding the barn egg proposals, the real work will begin in 2024 with work commencing on-site from early January.

bird bros are currently one of only a handful of UK egg producers who have chosen to invest in this production method for the continual welfare of our hens.

We plan to supply our first barn eggs in late-2024, which will cement our position as one of the UK’s most innovative egg producers.
